90 Day Paleo Food Challenge - Results

90 Day Paleo AIP Food Challenge

Time for another update, I am a week late on posting! Last Monday was my 90 weigh in and results day and I am still losing weight and inches.  I cannot say enough about pushing through each day and sticking with your meal plans as much as you can at this point. Below are my results from Day 1 to Day 90

My pictures are getting harder to see on my post, so next check-in I will post my beginning picture and current weigh in. I also think I need to go back to the white background so you can see better changes. I will adjust that for next time. But, I must say as I take this journey weight loss is great, but my main overall goal was to feel better. And I have achieved that pretty well. I still have more energy than I have in a long time and my Endocrinologist appointment went well.

My doctor says my nodules and goiter are shrinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (!!!!!!!!!) I knew they felt better but, I was amazed they were down in just around 60 Days of medication and my diet and exercise plan. I did not get the full measurement written down. But, right lobe is down from 6.6cm to 4.2cm and left lobe is down from 5.8cm to 4.0cm. This a big deal because I am more comfortable during the day and I don't think about my goiter. Also, the nodule on the left is no longer there upon exam and the right side is down too. Also, my doctor does confirm I have Hashimoto's so it is good to finally have a name to call my issues. I have felt like that fit for my problems, even though my blood work is not off the charts. We increased my Tirosint to 50mcg daily and I will recheck my bloodwork in 1 month.

Also, one thing I did not share in my beginning 30 Day post but I want to share this now. I was pre-Diabetic for a few years before I found this plan. No matter what I tried I could not get my A1C down. I was only 0.1 above the normal range at 5.7, but it bugged me and scared me. 3 weeks on this plan and my A1C dropped to 4.8. You can make the change you just have to want to change.

One note about the past 30 days, I have had 3-4 meals not on my plan (Eeek! I am not afraid to admit when I am weak). And it went ok for me, I did have some side effects. My heart rate increased twice and my thyroid was tender each time. But, no real anxiety or flushing issues. I did not feel the need to eat whatever all the time after some cheat meals. I can still tell that bad foods do not fuel my body well or fill me up. It was in social situations where I was unprepared with my own food. Still no coffee though, I am determined to stay away no matter how tempting. Because I still see issues and will continue to push forward towards the 6 month mark for total reintroducing food groups. As I go into the Thanksgiving holiday I plan on being strong and sticking to the diet plan.

This has been a long journey for over 5 years. But, I am here to say this plan can help you. Do your research for your issues. And please if you ever want help or just someone to talk to I am here for you. Stay strong and know that you are worth being fixed and

Weekly Meal Planning Guides

Today's post is learning how to meal plan for each week. For me, it is one of the most helpful things I have done for reaching my weight loss goals. I am not lost each day wondering what I am going to cook or eat for each meal. Or, tempted to just eat whatever is readily available. Although, since my diet change to AIP Paleo I am not as tempted to eat random things anymore.

I used to think I was pretty good at this without writing it down. But, I was wrong. Since I have been planning out the week I am seeing more and more progress in my health and fitness goals. Below are the two guides I use each week for shopping and cooking.

This guide is for planning your shopping trips. It is grouped by foods and other sections of the store you might need. It also has a weekly meal section so you can remember what food are needed in certain recipes during the week.

The other guide I use is a full weekly menu planner for all three meals. Just think you only have to plan out 21 meals each week. And I know for myself and my family we have favorite meals that can be repeated on different days of the week. So, if you have a favorite breakfast or lunch don't be afraid to repeat it.

I will post some examples of what I am eating weekly on the Paleo Diet soon. In the meantime, start planning your week and what you eat! It will help you stay on track and reach your health and weight loss goals. When you plan your food out, you are more likely to stay on track and not eat things outside your diet.

Where did October go?

Whew! I can't believe we are already in November! October was a super busy month at our house. Our son is now 9 months old. It is hard to believe that in just a few short months we will be celebrating his first birthday. I must say the past few weeks have been difficult because he is teething! I never imagined how hard it would be for him and for us. He does well most days but at least once a week he is up a few times in the night with pain and discomfort. He has his bottom two incisors and he is now working on his top incisors which seem more painful. Other happy updates for him is he has learned to clap with us and he is babbling all the time. He healed up very well from his tongue and lip tie surgery a few months ago. I enjoy every day with him even when we are sleep deprived!!

I must update and say that October has left little time for my weekly workout schedules. I did well for the first part of the month, but the last two weeks I have not made it a priority for me. I am making it a goal to get back on track this week. My energy level has decreased tremendously and I do not enjoy that side effect of little or no physical activity.  I am still using TurboFire as my main workout schedule and I am going to start again on week 3 for the daily calendar I will follow.

Even though my workouts decreased in October, I am still happy with my personal results. I have lost 2 more pounds and 2 1/2 inches from waist. This is extremely exciting on the waist measurements since I often wondered if I could get my abs back in shape after pregnancy and you can! On the days I wasn't working out I tried to make sure I ate well and did not consume too many calories.

Here's to staying motivated in November and getting in shape before we start the new year.

PiYo Results Day 1 to Day 60

Piyo Workout Results

I can finally announce and show my 60 day results on the PiYo Program. When I started this program I wasn't really sure where it would take me I just knew I love Yoga and Pilates workouts. This program has made me enjoy working out again. It has boosted my confidence without being difficult to complete. In the beginning I thought this is too easy I'm not sweating or my muscles don't hurt like other workouts. But, that is the best thing about PiYo, It builds you up slowly and helps you master the moves and then you start to sculpt your body slowly each week as the program becomes harder. I started as an out of shape new mother looking to gain confidence in her workouts. I found that and more.

I can complete workouts that I always thought were unachievable for me: push-ups, burpees, and completing side planks again. I still have to master PiYo pikes but I know its possible now.

PiYo Before and After Results  at Day 30

It has been a month since I started the PiYo workout and diet and I am very happy with my results. I have 30 more days to go before the official before and after but I wanted to share what I have accomplished so far. I used to shy away from sharing anything personal like this and would be sad about the way I looked. But, I have found new confidence that I am making changes in my health and the way I look so I shouldn't be afraid to show these photos. I hope that they help someone else get started on the road to a healthier lifestyle.

I can be your free coach!

The most exciting about this journey I am taking in getting healthy is that I can share my enthusiasm with everyone. Beachbody lets you have a free account to track your workouts whatever type they may be. It also lets you have access to the message boards and exploring what Beachbody has to offer to get you into shape. I had a free page for 4 years before I decided to become a coach. I enjoyed using the supergym to track my workouts with TurboTire. It is also nice to check out what it means to be a coach through this free log in and explore the different workouts Beachbody offers. I would love to be your free coach and for us both to get healthy together!

In other exciting news of mom world, I am up waaaay too late at the start of a new week. Our son is starting to teethe and it has made for some interesting learning moments being new parents. It was hard to tell if he was hungry or his gums hurt throughout today. Thankfully I picked up some orajel natural and we tried it tonight and it worked very well! Hopefully it will continue to help him over the many long months this continues! He is also wanting to sit up more often instead of lying down in the floor on his play mat. It is amazing how fast things change!
